Frequently Asked Questions:
What should my child wear to art class?
In art, we LOVE to work with a variety of media (chalk, oil pastel, paint, clay, etc.). Please do not send your child in their best clothes on the day they come to art. Although smocks and aprons are used, we are still working on technique and materials are messy! Thank you for your understanding.
When do I get my child's artwork back?
I prefer to keep artwork for all of my students, until May. The reason being for this is throughout the year I like to pull out students artwork to compare how they mastered certain skills from the beginning of the year. Another reason, is we have lots of art shows and opportunities to display student work in our community. So I like to have options on what to pull from when we have these types of opportunities. Also, in April we will begin preparing for our annual school art show that takes place in May. I like students to be able to select one piece of art to be displayed. I have the students select their favorite piece they had created during the year to be displayed.
It is my intention to return all of your child's artwork in one neat portfolio at the end of the year. It seems to be easier for everyone involved to receive one large package rather than a piece here and there.
If at any time you would like to meet to view your child's artwork or for a conference, please do so by calling or emailing me to schedule an appointment. You are welcome to come and create art with your child at anytime, please check in at the office first.
